Flashpoint testing is performed to identify the temperature at which a volatile material vaporizes sufficiently to form a flammable mixture.
It identifies the appropriate safety measures to be taken when transporting, storing or handling flammable liquids
We provide flashpoint testing, conducted to Setaflash D382816a standards, through our in-house oil laboratory based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
The oil is continuously heated within a closed cup and a naked flame is introduced at regular intervals until the air near the surface of the liquid combusts/ignites. The temperature at which the liquid/air mixture ignites is called the flashpoint.
Benefits of flashpoint:
- Significant saving on transport & storage costs by identifying the exact flashpoint
- Source contamination issues more accurately
- Faster analysis time for condition monitoring
